Frequently Asked Questions

What makes Better Music different than other local DJ companies?

Better Music caters to your unique needs and desires.  Any DJ can set up, play music ad break down their equipment. What makes Better Music unique is that we welcome the challenge of exceeding your needs. From affordable pricing to engaging entertainment, we don't rest until your event goes off without a hitch!
First impressions are EXTREMELY important to us.

It's four days before my event. Can you provide entertainment services?

Generally, we look to book out an event 4 weeks in advance. However, as long as we do not have a previously booked gig or a prior engagement the day you need us, we will be there! There are no fees regarding a late hire, however it is recommended that you meet with us to sign the contract and invoice before your event. If you would like to book an event with us even further in advance, please know that customers in the past have booked events a year (or more) in advance and that is completely normal.

Is it customary to tip my DJ?

Gratuities given to your DJ are made at the client or guest's sole discretion.

How early will my DJs arrive to set up the equipment?

Generally, your DJs will arrive anywhere between 30-45 minutes prior to the scheduled start time of your event. This allows us to be set up before guests arrive.
Depending on the needs of the event setup, the 30-45 minute timeframe may be adjust to more or less time at the DJs discretion.

If I need my DJs to stay overtime, how does pricing work?

If you are having fun and want your  DJ to play longer we would love to continue our performance.  You can purchase additional time by paying overtime at the beginning of the hour.  All overtime is purchased on an hourly basis and the cost for overtime is based on the hourly rate of your event package.  Overtime must be payed via cash or check prior to your DJ continuing their performance.

Is there some sort of contract to bind our partnership?

It is extremely important to have your booking confirmed in writing.  Better Music will provide you with a written contract outlining the terms of your service in a 1-1 meeting scheduled by you and your DJs.  We will review the contract together. You will receive a copy of the invoice, outlining the cost of your event. We would never suggest booking any DJ service with out a written contract, helping to ensure you receive the service you intend to pay for.

Starting soon, Better Music will be using a website called agree.com to send and receive contracts and invoices for events. Depending on customer feedback, credit card payments may be accepted there in the near future as well.

Do you charge for milage or set up? Any other fees?

Better Music only charges for travel if milage to an event (from Middleboro, MA) exceeds 25 miles. Better Music only charges for lodging fees if your event requires us to travel and lodge in that area.  The contracted price for events under 25 miles of travel already includes travel, set up and break down expenses. Additional accommodation fees would not be a factor unless you require a specific need for your service to be completed.
